DIFFERENT TYPES OF STRESSORS : COVID -19 ; COPING UP WITH THEM ( PARENTAL STRESS , EDUCATIONAL STRESS and FINANCIAL STRESS)
Stress means a feeling of emotional and physical tension . It can come from any event or thought that makes you feel frustrated , angry and nervous
Many reasons for stress include : stress due to unemployment , adolescent stress , stress due to education and a lot more reasons .
The paramount reasons for stress during the lockdown period have given birth to three major areas of concern
PARENTAL STRESS : its a part of parenting experience , parenting can be tough at the best of times , but family life has changed dramatically during social isolation which is mandated by COVID-19
As surveyed , some of the reasons that contribute to parental stress are :
Parents are not able to send their children for enhancement of social skills as they have to keep them isolated from the society
Lack of quality time - parents are getting more engaged in the household work and not actually able to get their quality time , earlier they felt a bit relaxed when they used to send their children to schools and they could perform all other tasks on time and even take out a while for relaxing
Although parents are happy to spend time with their children but there is lack of time coordination among them .
As parents have to work from home , they are facing difficulties in creating a working environment at home
Mothers who are professionals are also facing a tough challenge as they have to conduct the online classes for students and perform various other job related activities as well as handle and manage their homes.
Another area of concern is children being more involved in gaming and social sites which is further leading the children to demand more for what they seek through their role models .
The major area of worrying includes the disturbed sleep cycle of children .
EDUCATIONAl STRESS : educational stress is the area of discomfort and anxiety that is caused by different troubles of academic learning experiences . The reasons for educational stress among students are
Lack of communication , poor connectivity , problems related to increased screen time , students have to zoom and zoom out the soft copies which they receive for studying and its a difficult job for them to jot down and maintain notes side by side . Grown ups have the knowledge of gadgets but the younger ones : kids are not well worst with the gadgets and applications. There are many such parents who are not unfortunately educated enough and cannot help their children for the online process of studying .
FINANCIAL STRESS : financial stress refers to the stress as a condition caused by financial events that create anxiety and worry , often coupled with a physical response . The most vulnerable people to this kind of stress are the ones who earn their living on daily basis and due to which there is frustration being generated among the family members further leading to clashes .
WAYS TO COPE WITH STRES:
It has become very essential to cope with all the stress raising in the lockdown period because it might lead the world to a great downfall not just economically but also psychologically .
PLANNING : preparing a schedule in order to rebuild the proper sleep timing not just for children but also for other members of the family .
WORK PATIENTY : making sure that the demands of the children are realistic and trying to explain them to feel sufficient with the existing resources , here the parents need to be very patient because it is bit difficult to convince children .
TIME MANAGEMENT :managing time for physical activities , encouraging children to get engaged in body fitness activities and taking proper sleep would help to replenish the energy utilised during onscreen practices . A proper diet will help to build up immunity level
EARLY MORNING EXERCISES : early morning exercises are must for better growth and development . Early morning exercises are rich source of positive energy . While feeling the freshness it also benefits us with a rich amount of VITAMIN -D that is required by every body
AVOID MUNCHING : children are getting used to munching which must be avoided strictly as it can lead to become lethargy and lazy , this can further develop into eating disorders
POSITIVE THINKING : last but not the least , trying to build a positive perspective even in difficult times by keeping in mind that at least they have something rather than nothing and try to save as much as possible during these hard times
