Navabharat media, creating awareness through social initiatives
An organisation must never ignore its responsibilities towards society. social responsibilities are statutory requirement for the benefit of society. Being a media house the most important thing is responsibility. The organization has to be way more responsible than any other. They need to take initiatives that others do not. Like many other newspapers Navabharat, a Hindi daily has also undertaken some responsibilities and social initiatives to create awareness in the society.
During the Latur earthquake, the firm organized a relief camp, providing food and shelter to the victims of the disaster. As a media house, it also urged its readers to help the victims financially or any help they can be. In the year 1991 during the Mowad flood in Nagpur district, many lost their lives and hundreds lost their shelter. As a part of social responsibility, the organization allied funds and contributed to the affected to rebuild their houses and start all over again. The newspaper regularly published awareness articles about the Mowad floods.
Health facilities are sometimes restricted; they are not available to everyone. Hence health checkup camps sometimes fulfil that void and help to create awareness in the society about the consequences of not being healthy. Navabharat being a responsible newspaper also being a step further regularly conducted health checkup camps free of cost for every class of the society so that everyone can avail the benefits and be conscious about their health.
A time where Nagpur faced load shedding issues that made the lives of people harder to live without electricity, Navabharat published regular articles from the public point of view, conducting common man’s interviews, of which the government took cognizance that resulted to achieve zero load shedding in the district. The Orange City Water and Navabharat together initiated the ‘Jal Kal Abhiyan’, was conducted in order to create awareness among the people regarding saving water. Many NGO's also participated in this drive in order to alert the masses regarding the scarcity of water which they may face in future.
Many other initiatives and campaigns conducted by the organization such as the ‘No Parking Board’, Healthy Mornings, Wall graffiti, Zero Mile Campaign, and Swachh Nagpur Sundar Nagpur have turned out to be great examples of social responsibility and awareness among the society. These campaigns and initiatives must not be just a part of a mere showoff or for building a brand image; it should definitely be centred on making the society aware and responsible as well.
