BECAUSE READING GIVES US MORE THAN JUST
Most often people find reading books boring, but the one who has tasted it always craves for more. Personally I never grew up reading books all the time , infact I found textbooks more than enough. My school would have annual open days with bookstall sections , from which my mother would always buy a book for me to read it in the summer. I was not very fond of those so eventually they would pile up having dust sitting on them and the dust would only go by the fingerprints which would print on them because shifting them down for the next year textbooks to fit in was the only reason to touch them. When I was in the 9th grade and had my summer vacations , I removed all of them and thought of reading one , ofcourse I was still me, so I choose a book which had the most less pages and had a colourfull cover page. Yes , I did exactly what we are taught to not do since childhood , ‘judged the book by its cover’. ‘Panchatantra’ was the first book I ever read other than the school textbooks , and honestly speaking , I liked it ! I never thought I would , but I did. From there started the habit of reading books and has never stopped until now.
I was gifted a book by my brother when I was 16 years old , the book named ,’ The Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne . It took me months to complete it because I wouldn’t read everyday , but it was worth it. It was ‘THE book ’ for me . This time I loved it , I loved it so much that I may have read that book for a couple of times untill now. From then onwards not only I liked reading but I was fond of it. A book , what exactly is a book? Thousands of words coming together making sentences, sentences coming together and making paragraphs and paragraphs coming together and summing up to a chapter. The one from which the writer talks its soul out. The one which we can relate to many a times, also the one which sometimes changes our whole perspective of looking at things. After reading ‘The Secret’ I was attracted more towards reading which helped changed me into a whole different person having completely different way of looking at life . I started loving myself more .
‘ You shall get what you want, you only have to believe it to happen, what you think of very often is the thing you attract the most’ , these are some lines from ‘The Secret’ which is printed in my head for not to be forgotten because what it says is 100% true , and once you start realizing it as you practice , you find yourself with more power. This does not only takes us nearer to success but a happy and a life with peace and joy. Each book has its own uniqueness and beauty , we just have to enjoy it . It takes us through a journey which is always of use in our journey called life. I think it gives us a new set of eyes which has a very different way of looking at things and so handling them, because reading gives us more than just knowledge.

NOT PRIDE OF GIRLS BUT A FEELING FROM
People often say feminism is a pride , I say it’s a feeling just like caring , loving , kindness ,etc. In our country hundreds of protests are seen each year but the rape rate or the harassment cases never decrease. From our school days , as students we are taught values , one of them is respecting women and treating them with equality.
We all had comprehension as a topic in English where we were taught to write letters , essays , emails and more. We all have come across topics like ‘ gender equality’, ‘feminism’ , or when there are accidents taken place, like a girl harassment case or a rape case, where they give you the headline and ask you to write down your opinion about it. In assemblies plays are carried out where students are asked to play an recent event ,for example when the girl saved many lives when there was fire taken place in her building or the girl who persued what she wanted even after all the restrictions at her home, etc. But all of this is till a certain age ,that is you can learn or see all these things till your 12th grade , after that you do not come across these topics or issues until and unless it flashes on your T.V `s on news channels. Riots , protest, rallies , street plays are seen only when there is a rape case or an harassment case which has been out on the media , I am sure there are lots of cases which are yet to be solved and justice to be given to the girl and her family. Slogans and proverbs are made , hyped and forgotten as time passes by. Is all of this compulsory for maintaining a healthy environment or a suitable one where girls and women have their own voices? Our country has excelled in many fields which has made our country a much developed country though it still comes under the category of under developing countries. Why is feminism only a ‘issue’ ? Girls are bought up by giving them responsibilities before age. Mostly a girl is always seen cooking or cleaning the whole house even when she has a brother younger to her or elder to her. Most mothers teach their daughters to cook or to clean the house so that when she gets married , she doesn’t spoil her parents name , ever taught of teaching her those things so that when she gets out of the house for her career or higher studies , she won’t suffer so much. Boys can be out till 11 or 12 at night but girls have to be in before 8 in evening . ‘ No you should not go there because lots of men and guys are standing out there’ , ever said these things to a boy to not go at a place because women and girls are out there? In many Muslim houses there a girls who get married before 18 and no they do not stay at their husbands house but the marriage is just a reservation or say a booking .In each religion there are tons of restrictions which adds to the general list of restriction of every house. For creating a healthy society where everyone takes part in these awareness issues or create organization, is it necessary that a girl has to get raped or harassed and shame herself out in public? Is not possible for us to raise our voices towards those eyes which are responsible for keeping a girl inside ?
Every human being has a conscious and a subconscious mind which is capable of knowing the difference between right and wrong. Instead of shaming the girl for her situation which she has gone through we need to stand not only by her side but of each and every girl out there so that there should be a time where these things won’t happen , each gender will be treated with equality , everyone will have their own voices and choices. For this to happen steps like educating people with values making them participate in various awareness programs so that those values are not only taught till 12th grade but also used practically in real life , because ‘FEMINISM’ is not only a pride expressed by female gender but a feeling felt by everyone!
