Demonstration On Citizenship Law, Delhi Metro Closed 19 Stations
Delhi Metro closed the entry and exit doors of around 19 metro stations in Central and Old Delhi following a directive from the Delhi Police in view of the demonstration on the citizenship law. According to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation officials, the stations which have been closed on Thursday afternoon include Jamia Millia Islamia, Jasola Vihar-Shaheen Bagh, Munirka, Red Fort, Chandni Chowk, Jama Masjid, Vishwa Vidyalaya, Patel Chowk, Udyog Bhawan, Barakhamba, Delhi Gate, Khan Market, Pragati Maidan, Lok Kalyan Marg, ITO, Mandi House, Vasant Vihar, Central Secretariat Rajiv Chowk Not. In an official statement from the DMRC, it said- "Amidst the protests, some metro stations have been closed on Thursday as a historical measure. The safety of our riders and the metro is paramount, and we have to ensure this following the advice given by the authorities." This pattern has been seen continuously in the last few months. Whether it is the demand for a refund of a fee hike on behalf of Jawaharlal Nehru students, the Delhi University ad hoc teachers, or the demonstration on citizenship law, Delhi Metro has been shutting down its stations.
