Maharashtra: BJP plans to corner Sena with motion to honour Savarkar
The BJP is wanting to corner the Shiv Sena on the issue of carrying a movement to respect patriot pioneer V D Savarkar in the forthcoming Budget Session.
In the gathering of the Business Advisory Committee of the state governing body on Monday, previous state minister and BJP administrator Sudhir Mungantiwar raised the issue of bringing the movement however Congress contradicted the move and Sena took a cautious step on it. BJP needs to move the movement on February 26, the passing commemoration of Savarkar.
"In the event that the Sena feels that such a move could mean something bad for the tri-party partnership, at that point it needs to choose what is significant, belief system or government," said Mungantiwar.
Congress pioneer and minister Vijay Wadettiwar said the issue has been raised for political purposes. "They ought to have passed the movement over the most recent five years," he included. In any case, Sena lawmaker Sunil Prabhu said the BJP should "respect Savarkar with Bharat Ratna" before looking at bringing an inviting movement.
Sources said it was concluded that Assembly Speaker Nana Patole will take a call on the welcome motion.
