Painting is done on water in Udaipur, Rajasthan. This ancestral art, about three and a half hundred years old, is called Jal Sanjhi. The 60-year-old Rajesh Vaishnav, who has been drawing water for years at Govardhannathji's temple in Jagdish Chowk in the city, says that Krishna Leelas are painted in Jal Sanjhi.
Water has to be kept stable in the water vessel. Even if the wind blows a little, the hard work is wasted. All the doors, windows of the temple are closed and curtains are made before preparing the water. After this, a layer of coal and dry colors is laid on the water. It takes 6 to 10 hours to prepare a water sharing.
