Seven accused arrested within 12 hours of video of beating of Dalit youth in Nagaur
In Nagaur, the police arrested the seven accused in 12 hours after taking hostage and assaulting the Dalits and making offensive videos viral. Inspector General of Police, Human Rights Bipin Kumar Pandey has been sent to Nagaur for investigation from Police Headquarters. Investigations are being carried out under the supervision of Crime Branch's HINIUS Crime Unit. At the same time, Congress state president Sachin Pilot has constituted a three-member committee to investigate the Nagaur incident. These include Master Bhanwarlal Meghwal, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Organization General Secretary Mahesh Sharma and Deoli-Uniara MLA Harish Chandra Meena.
After Rahul Gandhi's tweet, CM Ashok Gehlot said that immediate and effective action was taken in the horrific and brutal incident in Nagaur. All seven accused have been arrested. No one will be spared. The culprits will be punished according to the law. We will ensure that the victims get justice.
Mayawati tweeted that the viral video of the harassment of Dalit brothers in Nagaur is disturbing. Government should take effective action. Amit Malviya of BJP's IT cell said that crime has increased on Dalits ever since the Congress government is formed.
According to the victims Visaram and Pannaram - they reached the agency for bike service at around 2.30 pm on 16 February.
