The GLOBAL PANDEMIC: the visitor friend of foe?
Someone took a world tour
And lo! Behold the ‘hullabaloo of the corona virus pandemic’. An invisible minuscule invader.Yes, the arrival of this speck of a virus lulled the entire world, quarantined from the outside. Not just that, it appears to follow the give and take rule and has thus, ceased the existence of many and is considerably leaving behind its trails on the rest. It all began like a new years eve present and has made its presence felt there on. Gradually but with a determined fervour it has paved its way across towns, countries and continents until it had the entire globe under its sway.
It is believed to have originated from a place of magnanimously vibrant culture and heritage – China, the virus has travelled across latitudes and longitudes on account of the global interdependency of a modern society. So here is how it works, viruses like other pathogens don’t produce symptoms as soon as they come in contact with humans. First they go through an incubation period during which it multiplies and replicates to a desired threshold; necessary to produce symptoms in the host. during this time the human body also goes through multiple immune responses with the goal of restricting the virus below the threshold limit, thus if it is able to do so no symptoms will be manifested. Effectiveness of an individual’s immune system in responding to the virus plays a vital role. This incubation period of the covid-19 virus partially explains how the disease spread so widely without being detected. Having had the best transport system, it’s surely been easy for it to travel around.
On numerous occasions our ignorance on hygiene seems to have taken us through some long benighted months. Furthermore, transmission was found to be even through indirect contact with surfaces in the immediate environment or objects that were contacted by an infected person. As many of us already know this pandemic was classified airborne, the reason being the saliva of the infected person having with it the particles of the virus present with it being forced out in the open air if no proper hygiene is maintained.
As the virus keeps proliferating due to the negligence and ignorance, along with it flourishes the fear in the minds of many. There being a connection with emotions and immunity, studies have proved that the fear can degrade an individual’s immunity thus making them vulnerable to being infected.
Amidst the human impact, world leaders and health care individuals are tirelessly working overtime in the service of humanity trying their best with the resources at hand to find a solution, a way to bring the global situation under control. Gradually, as slow as it seems things have started to come under control at least to some extent. After all, the cure does lie in our hands, yet.
Contrary to the shackles of race, money, class or religion which we keep ourselves tangled, this unbiased corona-kind has unburdened us from all these restraints and made us realize that however far we go, humans will always be connected to each other; biologically, physically and chemically. Being a time for empathizing with one another, everyone was obliged to abide by the safety protocols set by the government and health centres which would help contribute to the containment of the virus.
Given the idea of empathy and solidarity. Yet, it doesn’t take long for those cruel mindsets to bring back the idea of discrimination in relation to race. It has been witnessed that in several countries, Chinese nationals and persons of Asian descent, particularly those with similar features, faced attacks, xenophobic attacks due to the pandemic. There has also been an increase in the number of cases reported of hostility and discrimination. This proves racism and also highlights the enormity of hate imbibed in people’s minds. It is unfortunate for such cases to take place even in the present scenario.
With many addressing it as the ‘Chinese virus’, racially profiling it, makes the Chinese nationals more vulnerable to being targeted and harassed. Furthermore, it also increases the already imbibed xenophobia in some peoples’ minds. At a time as crucial as this every word can hold uttermost value and regard.
With all the visible chaos and waves of fear and death, there has been some ray of light on environmental issues which should have been acted upon long ago. Studies have shown drastic drop in pollution levels in the environment to a considerable extent. May,the peak of carbon emissions due to the burning and decomposition, is said to be recorded to its lowest levels of pollutants in the air since 2008. Water bodies have also been reported to have gotten clearer. In addition a number of animal sightings were noticed. Today, many of us may think of these sightings to be something unusual, but this unusualness was their usual until we encroached and interfered in their land, hence the pandemic made it convenient for these animals to move on the streets on account of the withdrawal of human activity.
Despite the mandatory self-confinement in our respective homes, the pandemic brought those distant families closer. Parents who hadn’t had much time to dedicate to kids now had a chance to do so.
Being GEN ‘Z’, passing time this pandemic wasn’t much of an issue thereby soaring the profits of various entertainment companies such as Netflix,Hulu,Amazon and other T.V networks to quite an extent.
India v/s Covid-19
As the entire world was getting enveloped by the wrath of the corona virus and its innumerable effects India too was instilled by the fear of covid-19 and the possibility of losing their dear ones .
State by state until the entire nation had its now known, invisible visitor. As the cases gradually increase and so the fear, is it really the virus that we should be afraid off?? Yes! we are fighting this unseen enemy, with no definite cure in sight and lots of misinformation and disinformation being circulated via various media platforms. Isn’t it from here that most of us claim to have been informed so?? Then how sure can we be that all that we come across here is true? or how much of it portrays the truth? Then isn’t this “accidental” spread of misinformation and disinformation that we unfortunately believe in something that we should be most afraid of.
“We are not only fighting the epidemic but the infodemic too”, exclaims Mr.Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director General of the WHO. The motive of such posts maybe intended to simply manipulate people’s minds and to create biases. Some have even used the pandemic as an opportunity to get rich by creating fake brands, such as the one claiming colloidal silver being sold by him would cure the novel corona virus. But the truth is that colloidal silver isn’t even safe for the body!
Today, with the present situation, miscreants have been playing with the minds and emotions of the innocent and have used social media as a medium to propagate their fake remedies and thus fooling the naive into buying their fake products.
Apart from the havoc created on internet platforms the pandemic has hit the poor the worst yet again.Even though the lockdown as imposed was claimed to have brought the spread under control, during this time many migrant labourers many of which may have been daily wagers apart from already facing the crisis and the pressure of saving enough to suffice the needs for the remaining days of the so called lockdown extension they had to now leave for their hometowns travelling long distances and were thus seen on the roads, stranded across the counrty. They not only lost their jobs but their dignity too due to the jolt of the government. Well yes, the government did announce relief packages to help those workers and also small businesses. But from all counts, the additional food, cash and other benefits being offered are insufficient to reduce the insecurities and uncertainties in the people’s lives.
Is really only the poor being affected so bad? This pandemic, the lockdown has also meant the loss of millions of jobs especially those of daily wagers as mentioned earlier and informal sector workers. Large companies across various sectors- aviation, media, retail, hospitality, automobiles have announced massive layoffs and experts believe that small shops and medium businesses are likely to shut shop together.
With the current scenario, experts warn that the economic cost of the lockdown is only starting to get higher. And so the government has begun to ease such restrictions on zones or areas which have reported a lower number of infections, while the curfews are still in places with a comparatively higher number of cases.
Having mentioned the cons, this pandemic did have it pros as well. It was noticed that apart from being stranded at home youngsters as well as many others have somehow discovered their hidden talents right from cooking to household chores.
In conclusion, this pandemic seems to have affected men and women equally. At home, it also forced them, for instance, to share household chores. And so it has given a time for reflection and can be viewed as a golden hour for many to realize the futility of stereotypes and gender norms, materialism, bigotism, classist attitudes that many have mindlessly followed for generations. This small difference will bring along waves of change.
And sooner, after a long fight, media reports pointed that India’s COVID-19 curve is flatter than that of several other western nations by containing the case to a thousands, that too with a population of 1.3 billion….or so we are forced to read.
There sparkles a period of personal growth..
A day during the lockdown seems quite pacifying until it does not. Under usual circumstances, while i’d really wish to take some time off a busy routine and just stay in to reconnect with myelf, i was flabbergasted that I'd been presented with the opportunity.
With more time at hand and having had to stay at home, it wasn’t all a waste. I decided to spend better part of it in a productive manner.
Refreshed my memory on my musical knowledge, playing the piano and learning more pieces and accompanying my brother with the guitar having small sing-song sessions. Caught on with painting a couple of canvases and some different art techniques. Apart from this, I tried cooking a variety of dishes than before. Baking became my thing, trying out different recipes each day mastering them. Slowly as I gained some more confidence, with the help of my parents i started a small venture in the same field.Things went well and I learnt some business basics and exposure in the same.
As economy and stock market crashed due to the lock down, stock investment became the topic of discussion, i too picked up some knowledge from the discussions and some addition reading.
I could spend more time with family during this period. those long gone board games got back its importance to some extent. playing boards games, exercising, gardening together as a family became part of my daily routine.
As the long the lockdown was imposed there was lot more peace and silence in the surrounding that brought me to pause and look around at the wonders of nature which i hadn’t in so long. This helped me introspect and reflect on various things especially myself as an individual. I started spending time on meditation and self examination everyday.
In addition, i decided to take a two week break from eating unhealthy and junk food and cooked my own healthier meals from breakfast until the dinner. This made me look at health and snacking in a whole new and refreshed prospective.
The lockdown took place this summer and being the harvest season for many fruits i spent some of my evening learning about the different fruits and vegetables in the backyard. I also helped in the mango plucking .Gone are the days when children explored the outdoors. It had been long since i had last visited the hills to collect those summer berries commonly know as ‘kanda’, ‘chunna’, ‘chara’ and later that season cashews too.
In many regions with the higher number of individuals infected it probably felt like hibernating, in seclusion for a while. Having relatives around those areas, calling those relatives and talking to them asking them if they are okay, hearing familiar voices and faces if and when I'd FaceTime them not only did they appreciate it and brought joy to them but it brought joy and satisfaction to me too.
However gloomy the situation may have been it did bring about a change that made a difference to me as well as in the lives of many others. It is rightly said," Every bad situation has a positive side, even a dead clock shows the right time twice a day so stay positive."

Meant to be?
My boyfriend, He had a rough past his mother passing away while he was just 6 yrs old and his father being married to another woman. Emotionally he is blocked by his father and is only close to his grandfather after all that. His female cousin was too attached to him because he was much loved and had be shown compassion by her father, who was his uncle when he was facing all that trauma as a child. She was always there was him and to him, she was the only family. By which I mean they shared a great bond.
My boyfriend is 6 yrs younger than I am. And his cousin is probably an year or two younger than him.
When I first met him he claimed that he had feelings for her. And he always had them since childhood but could never express to her because of her father's compassion towards him. It seems like she knew about it as well. But do not wanna talk about it. Because by doing she would put their bond at stake.
We met in a family reception his cousin was my first friend. And the next day he celebrated her bday with bunch of surprises and ring that says love. And collected alot of money from some time for making her bday memorable. Inspite of her family being present at that particular time. He took up the entire responsibility of her bday on himself. Hmmm... we were all still knowing each other. So. Hmmm....
So when we got into a relationship, she was kinda happy in the beginning but later as time passed she started to feel jealous about me n my boyfriend spending time with each other and asked for his attention whenever she was around him in my absence and dint talk to me about it. We were on good terms with each other. But she was somewhat feeling like a nut in all off this. There were days when we 3 meet and she talks to him on differently personal levels and makes me step aside a bit. But i was mostly acting avoidant towards those moments because she was his cousin who meant the world for him before He met me. I dont know if my boyfriend enjoyed or enjoys those attentions from her. But when me and my boyfriend are together we are really happy with each other.
But when it comes to understanding him he flauts her ways of understanding him before me. Which obviously makes me a bit offended. I mean like. I want to be the one who understands him better than any other female. Be it his own cousin. And i waiting and waiting for toooo long to put up my thoughts of being insecure about his bond with his cousin. Because I definitely dont like him twining with her and her flaunting whats mine to flaunt. He clicking beautiful pictures for her and then when it comes to me, he be saying "thats how look babe, ugly! But I still love you" , you know they say "lens cant lie" and "beauty lies in the eye of a beholder" a person can make anything look lovely in a photograph if they want it to be looked that way. It some where felt like it was breaking my grip at him. And it kept me from showing so much of my romance and realness towards him. And i couldn't hold my pain in anymore and asked him to keep a distance from her a bit. And try investing into this relationship. To which He was like "you both are my girls, i cant choose between the both of u". He went introvert about himself even when i knew that he wouldn't text anything intimate with her. I was still jealous and totally insecure.
From few weeks we weren't talking that much unless if its us being horny. I wasn't really interested to please him because my mind had so much in them. But i faked so much of me in those days to put up myself to be available for him. Because i definitely dint want to loose him. Atleast not to his cousin. When i know if its not me that he is texting, its probably her. Maybe he did that because I never told him about all the emotional hidden hurt i was feeling while he was simply feeling i was ok him texting her. But somewhere i was emotionally being hurt because he shares all the tiny tiny happy moments with her and all he can share with is bunch of semen and nudes. Relationship with me, to him was only about physical, but maybe he felt he shoud be that only with me. But while he failed to understand the tiny silly things also belonged to me(his girlfriend, who is now his ex).
He recently released a music. To which I helped him with some written stuff. His cousin was pissed at him for not telling her anything about it. And taunted my help for him. Hmmmm... noticable.
Recently we had a random fight and he told her about it. That we broke up but then we got back again. Cause we are supposed to be. But she supported his break up with me and dint speak anything in support of his relationship with me. Infact when we started to talk and by using her observation skills she gets to know that we are talking again. She taunts his decision with him talking to me again. And he clearly has nothing to talk in support of our relationship. He was emotionally being drained he said when he was getting these taunts and my demands to keep a little distance. Clearly he couldn't do both because if he would not talk to her she would be hurt. And if he would talk to her it would be him crossing my words.
I tried to explain to her my problem in a hidden manner by explaining her the woman's code:" to leave a man alone when he is married, engaged or taken. Even if it your own brother or your bestfriend". But she comes up with a thing that, "ahh!! So It was you who was trying to bring distance between us." And she had to explode it all on him. And she did. But since he was emotionally being drained I plead my sorry for what I did. But she still had to keep some taunts to herself that she later exploded it on my boyfriend. She speaks to him about how toxic I am. And that I break families because I told her to distance with him a bit. And to literally break up with me. And even when he did she wouldn't see his face or even have any contact with him.
I tried to speak to her about him and her and she says it their personal. And refuses to talk to me about it because we aren't married yet? , yep thats what she said. And my boyfriend here said nothing to her. Instead He breaks up with me for a silly reason to have texted her when I had to text him.
About this a few days before this fight. I happened to randomly check his phone when we had been out. And when i see them both texting so much over how to make a coffee, while i was busy with my life and after me telling him to reduce the talking I get to see a huge pile of messages of how to make a damn coffee and pictures of how it would look like. Like seriously, can't you just Google it?? .... being so shit frank. I hated that thing. It was were i lost it all. And he dint tell me anything about it untill I saw. While the other times he always mentioned, i mean like, why you first make me get used to being notified about things and later sometimes you hide things when I demanded of something like him not talking to her. And coming to the worst thing. When i asked whom would you choose. He choose her instead. And left me after all that relationship goals time we spent with each other. He literally turned me down for his cousin. And is asking me to move on so he can move on and not look guilty.
I literally feel being emotionally embarrassed when he said to fix things between him and her. When all I did was to tell her to give some space for me with him from her side. Now all He did was ruined it all for me. Just because he is not on good terms with his cousin. I dono what zone I am put into By him. But its really upsetting after all that love and real feelings I shared with him.
So the end line is. Be ware of your partners cousins of opposite sex. If they cant set their boundaries it can get embarrassing for you, draining for him and frustrating for his cousin. Sometimes its not really the fault of any of you 3.
A relationship can stay between two individuals only. Or else either the sanity is lost or the relationship is lost or you either simply lose the other person. Also be aware of your actions they are inevitable and your words they will never be forgotten. As much as possible show love. But never remain in a place were you are tolerated. World is filled with people who can't see you happy and also wont want to keep you happy themselves. Everyone is selfish. But be bothered about the one you call a part of yourself.
You are bone from someone's body and the someone is the probably you should be only bothered about. I wonder if there was some kinda app to find our missing piece like anything else. But maybe thats the beauty of it. Which takes so much of effort and work. But there is a peace flow of path that leads to ua missing piece even if we mess up big time.
Are college fees amidst Covid19 relevant ?
And the answer is NO !!
Shocking, right ?
Before explaining the reason, let me take you guys to the base of this topic.
You might be aware of the pandemic situation created from the starting of March 2020. An airborne disease called Corona outbreak in China on 30th Jan 2020, where it’s first case was
reported. Coronaviruses are a group of viruses that can cause disease in both animals and humans. This is caused by 1acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2).
The virus causes coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19). And cough, sneezing and rise in temperature are the main symptoms. And the statistics of the latest report says that vomiting is also now added in the list of symptoms.
The new strain of coronavirus likely originated in bats or pangolins. The first transmission to humans was in Wuhan, China. Since then, the virus has mostly spread through person-to-person contact.
Till now, there are a total 936K cases confirmed, out of which, 592K people have been recovered and 24,309 people died in India, says the statistical report. Now you can imagine how
dangerous the virus is, and what impacts it could have caused.
The Covid19 spread to such extent, that it urged our honorable Prime Minister Modi to take a decision of lockdown which has caused several impacts. Almost every field has been impacted.
The stock market came down as there were restrictions on the transportation due to lockdown. Even in companies, employees are currently working from home. While some companies are
reducing the number of employees which is increasing unemployability.
The education field has been affected the most due to corona. Because due to lockdown, colleges and schools are shut. The career of students is right now conundrum. There is huge dispute going on for conduction of final year exams, although 10th and 12th CBSE exams have been conducted. So, amidst this pandemic, offline education is not possible. Thus, the focus is on online education.
Guys, what do you think ?
What is online education ?
How beneficial is it and to what extent ?
Online education is the education taken from home, then it may be using websites or installing some android apps. All schools and colleges are switching to online education. Online learning,
or virtual classes offered over the internet, is contrasted with traditional courses taken in a brick-and-mortar school building. It is the newest development in distance education that began
in the mid-1990s with the spread of the internet and the World Wide Web.
The vast majority of institutions utilize a Learning Management System for the administration of online courses. As theories of distance education evolve, digital technologies to support learning and continue to transform as well.
What I observed in these 4 months, ZOOM application is mostly preferred by schools and colleges for taking online classes. Over there, students need to put a meeting id and password
provided by the organisation. Attendance is taken by teachers and the classes are conducted for about 3 to 4 hours.
Following are some benefits of this type of education :
a. No need to visit colleges :
You don’t need to visit college and take education by sitting at
b. Take education from home :
You can take education from home which will save your lot’s of
c. Decide your own time :
You can decide yourself, at what time you will sit and get up.
d. Make your own timetable :
You can choose which subject to do first, at what time to sit,
according to your own convenience.
e. Save your time :
As you don’t need to go to college and then again return home where a lot of time gets wasted, hence online education saves your time and money as well.
Sounds good, right !!
But as we say, every coin has 2 sides. Even the best technology and evolving and most trending digital technology has disadvantages. And following are some of it’s disadvantages:
a. No face to face interaction :
In online education, there is no face to face interaction. Only
virtual interaction takes place.
b. No practical demonstration for clearing your doubts :
If during any lecture, you have any doubts then they can be cleared theoretically. So you don’t get any practical demonstration for clearing your doubts.
c. May create a sense of isolation :
Online education may create a sense of isolation. This
means, you can’t meet your friends and have fun with them. So you have to take solo education, which gives you a feeling of loneliness and constant lectures make you feel bored.
d. Affect your eyes :
You can take lectures on either mobile or laptop. So you have to
continuously stare at the screen. This continuously staring at the screen can badly affect your eyes.
And this is all about the pandemic and why we need online education.
Now, coming back to the root of the topic,
Are college fees amidst Covid19 relevant ?
Guys, what is your opinion regarding this topic ?
Do college fees really make balance amidst this pandemic ?
Colleges are taking online education via ZOOM meeting for about 3 to 4 hours. Traditionally, college for about 7 hours according to my observations. And if we exclude the 2 breaks, then colleges are for about 6 hours.
My question is, can the knowledge taught in 6 hours be covered in 4 hours ?
Yes, obviously the knowledge taught in 4 hours can be covered in 4 hours. Because practicals are conducted for about 2 hours. And theory lectures are conducted for about the rest 4 hours. So, in online education, theory lectures may be conducted for 2 to 3 hours. And the practicals may be conducted in the rest of time by sharing the screen.
Our college fee structure includes primarily tutor and practical labs fees. And secondarily some other facilities of college. Of which tutor fees are consumed successfully when lectures are
conducted in online classes. But what about practical lab fees. It’s totally not being consumed during the lockdown phase and online education. If the practical labs are not being used by
students, then why are fees charged for no reason ? Also, if we are not going to college then why are fees for college facilities charged ?
I see no balance of fees in this.
Do you ?
What do you think, what action should be taken against this ?
According to me, all parents of the respected college should hold meetings with teachers and should complain about the problem. Then maybe teachers would discuss the problem to the highest authority and can find a solution over the problem. If they deny to reduce the fees, then parents can request teachers to introduce a new course or can assign projects to students and use the extra fees over there. Projects have a deep importance in careers. Also they can give paid internships to students and utilize the extra fees over there. Paid internships provide training to interns, which can be useful and they can be comfortable in the jobs in future.
So, in this way many other solutions can be proposed for this problem. Thus, college fees can be balanced in these many ways. The big advantage of these solutions proposed and more to be proposed is that they meet our goals, i.e., utilize the extra fees taken by college in an efficient way. And maintains the balance of college fees.
