Three people, including Ekta Kapoor, filed FIR, accused of tarnishing the image of Indian Army
An FIR has been lodged against three people including television queen Ekta Kapoor for spreading obscenity and insulting national symbols. This FIR on Ekta Kapoor has been registered for the telecast of a web series on the OTT platform Alt Balaji.
Sathish Kumar Dwivedi, in-charge of Annapurna police station in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, said that the FIR was on the complaint of two local residents - Valmik Sakaragaye and Neeraj Yagnik, along with sections 294 (obscenity) and 298 of the IPC (hurting religious sentiments) information technology. Under the provisions of the Act and the State Emblem of India (Prohibition of Improper Use) Act, it has been registered on Friday night.
Ekta Kapoor is accused of spreading vulgarity in society and hurting religious sentiments of a particular community through season-2 of the web series "Triple X" aired on the OTT (over the top) platform Alt Balaji.
According to the station in-charge, the complaint also alleges that in one view of this web series, the national emblems have been insulted by presenting the Indian Army uniform in a very objectionable manner. Detailed investigation in the case is going on.
Earlier, the Confederation of Ex-Paramilitary Force Welfare Association had complained to the President about this. Association general secretary Ranbir Singh said that millions of soldiers oppose such irresponsible filming. This is a complete insult to the dignity and symbol of uniforms of 24 lakh army and paramilitary forces deployed on the borders.
