Felicia Dennis Laid to Rest Amid Tears, Eulogies.
It was all tears as the remains of late Mrs. Felicia Dennis Egwu Nwambam, the step mother of Engr. Onwukaike Nwambam (Last Born) who died of breast cancer at the age of 64 years, was on Thursday, April 8, laid to rest at her home town, Abina Amagu in Ikwo Local Government Area, Ebonyi State.
Commiserating with the deceased family and the people of Ikwo Noyo, Ebonyi State Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government and Coordinating Commissioner, Dr. Ugbala Kenneth Igwe, described her death as unfortunate and a painful loss and charged them to immortalize the good name and sterling values she lived for by mirroring her spirit of peace and oneness.
Dr. Ugbala commended the people of Ikwo for their support to the Umahi-led Government and assured them of the readiness of the State Government to partner with the people of Ikwo Noyo to take the deceased family to a point of glory.
“May I, on behalf of the father of the state, Engr. Chief David Nweze Umahi, commiserate with you on this unfortunate incident. Although death is inevitable but the exit of a parent is always a painful experience. Even when God’s grace leads them to a ripe old age, their death elicits a discomforting feeling of loss that leaves grief in the heart of the loved ones.
“I implore you to immortalize your mother by upholding those virtues she was known for while alive; by so doing you are honouring your late mother.
“On behalf of the Governor, I sympathize with you and the people of Ikwo Noyo at this moment of grief. I must thank you for your support to our administration and I assure you that Ebonyi State Government is ready to partner with you to take the deceased family to a point of glory”, he maintained.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul in the bosom of the Lord.
According to Rev Fr. Ifeanyi Ogodo who officiated at the burial ceremony, death is the most rejected reality as nobody wants to die. To the young, it comes with bitterest agony because it takes them unawares but to the aged, it comes with pains and celebration of life, especially to those lived close to a century or more.
He noted that no one was completely prepared for the death of someone close to him/her but we have to expect it as it is the inevitable end of every human being on earth.
Madam Felicia was a devoted member of the Catholic faith, Assumption Parish, Amagu Ikwo and was baptized in same church where she worshipped until her death.
Highlights of the event were reading of biography, condolence messages, prayer for the family and vote of thanks by Engr. Onwukaike.
The funeral rite of late Madam Felicia Dennis attracted a large pool of dignitaries from Ebonyi State and beyond, including His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State who was represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Dr. Okechukwu Nwakpu and Chairman Ikwo LGA, Elder Steve Orogwu.
